Berl Broyde was born in Slonim. In the Ghetto, he was one of the founders of the Dror Resistance movement. Very active with the young, particularly those belonging to Hashomer Hatzair, he was sent to Sosnowiec to help organize the Resistance there, and was called back to Warsaw at the end of 1942.
He directed the unit responsible for Abraham First's execution, then took part in the January fighting before being arrested by the Germans. He jumped off the train taking him to Treblinka and returned to the Ghetto. During the Insurrection, Berl Broyde was in command
of a combat unit in the central Ghetto.
He committed suicide in the bunker of Mila Street. Broyde was 25 at the time.
